Abstract
As film ages, it shrinks and becomes brittle. As the nature of the film base changes in this way, the film becomes more difficult to project, particularly since repeated use will probably cause damage to the film's perforation. However, it is now possible to copy film with damaged perforation, thus extending the life of important cinematic records and artistic works.
