A New 16-mm Test Film for the Evaluation of Telecine Performance

Abstract: A test film was required by which the true performance of a telecine chain could be judged. All important aspects of telecine performance must be evaluated accurately and quickly, preferably in under three minutes. This paper describes such a film, the philosophy underlying its design, and the parameters tested by the film. The content and duration of each test section is listed in the appendix, along with operators' instructions including the expected monitor, waveform, and vectorscope outputs.
