Abstract: Delegates, engineers, technicians, managers, and the curious converged on Los Angeles toward the end of October 1979, marking the occasion of the SMPTE's 121st Conference. They came from all over the world, about two hundred attending officially from scores of other countries. People were there from South American and African countries. Delegates from Japan, Russia, several European countries, and the People's Republic of China were seen. The theme — Our International Society — was manifest.
