Abstract: Space communications are essentially line-of-sight transmissions complicated by nonstationary terminals and the literally astronomical distances involved. Severe limitations on available power and weight restrict transmitter power, and therefore narrow bandwidths for transmission of pictorial data are required. These unique conditions underlie certain problems and possible solutions.
