There is good reason for this: the technical process for the storage of the visual image is much more complicated compared to that of sound. Therefore, more time was required for the development of the video storage means, i.e., the equivalent systems to the audio disc and tape. To be fair, there was one reasonably cheap system of picture storage in existence in the early days of television; that was the 8mm amateur film. Furthermore, this known medium also has gained considerable importance in the last few years by the introduction of television to the audio-visual business.
