Both of these issues motivate the desire for “non-glasses-based” 3D (NG3D) displays, also known as “autostereoscopic” displays. This paper will address the general theory of the light field, a function that describes the amount of light traveling in every direction through every point in space. It will then discus how this light field could be generated to allow for NG3D displays.
