To date, most fixed-pixel broadcast and production monitors have relied on liquid-crystal displays, but there are several limitations to LCD image quality that are challenging and expensive to overcome. A more practical alternative is the plasma display panel, which has proven to be a strong candidate for reference displays. As an emissive technology, it has wide viewing angles, high contrast, deep black levels, and excellent color saturation. It is also very affordable in large sizes and offers greater life spans than other leading reference monitor replacements, which is of great interest in today's challenging economic climate.
