The camera output is progressively scanned at 60 frames per second. If digitized, the output bit rate would be 2.4 gigabits per second. Consequently, subband coding will be used to compress the output to a bit stream that can be recorded on a D-1 or D-5 digital video recorder and still have enough “head room” for post-production processing.
