These metrics are designed to quantify the severity of the three major types of artifacts associated with block-DCT-based imagehideo compression schemes, in a manner compatible with HVS. Experimental results from some commercially available encoding applications are reported in a vendor transparent manner, to illustrate the practical usefulness of the proposed metrics to assess compressed image quality aside from their theoretical significance.",

Fascinated from the very beginning by the possibilities offered by digital media, in his junior high school year, he was involved in testing image quality of digital video servers in the initial phases of MPEG-2. He used his skills in these areas during internships at EMC working with experts in the evaluation of different codec technologies and contributed to the performance of the EMC Video Server. Later he become involved in the low bandwidth video codecs using MPEG-4 technology. As a consultant for DivX Networks Faibish, applying his knowledge to video compression, contributed to the excellent quality of a new codec. He was also involved in the preparation of demonstrations of different codec technologies popular on the internet.",
