    "abstract": "The process of forming transparent luminescent screens by evaporation in a vacuum is described. The method is applicable to most of the common phosphors and yields screens having the same properties as these phosphors. Advantages of transparent screens, such as high resolution and high contrast, are discussed. Applications of the transparent screen to the Navy's flat cathode-ray tube, the daylight viewing tube and the laminated color tube are described.",
