These papers have documented many important events related to early developments in motion-picture engineering and, more recently, in television engineering and photo-instrumentation. Historical papers appearing in the Journal are a continuing source of information for reseachers and writers. The origin and early work of the Historical Committee are discussed with reference to some of the leading historical papers published by the Society.
