In order to insert high resolution information, vacant frequency bands are found. Resolution can be improved both vertically and horizontally, the former by progressive scanning and line interpolation, and the latter through insertion of horizontal high resolution information. This causes little degradation even when received by present TV receivers. Experiments have been done on two kinds of schemes, which will be refered to as F and H schemes, hereafter.
