    "abstract": "To take advantage of emerging AV/IT tools and techniques, the NBC Olympic broadcast/production team built the 2004 production systems on a new and improved workflow model. Leveraging the Sony e-VTR device, tape-based and live record assets were captured as MXF files. This allowed various and profound efficiencies in asset management, editorial review, nonlinear editing, and overall program creation and production. This system was expanded to support the 2006 Winter Games in high definition. This paper describes the application and benefits of MXF files, AV/IT techniques, and the e-VTR device functionality.",
