    "abstract": "Silent 8mm color reduction prints were produced almost 25 years ago. Constant improvements in methods and materials led to many commercial uses. Although a paper on 8mm magnetic sound was first presented to the Society in 1947, little progress was apparent until late 1959. The Geo. W. Colburn Laboratory adapted existing equipment and designed and built new equipment to meet the demand for quality 8mm color sound prints in volume at a cost substantially lower than that of 16mm prints, despite the many additional operations involved.",
