    "abstract": "With ever-increasing bandwidth requirements for new TV formats, there is a need for a serial transport standard beyond the 3 Gbits/sec offered by SMPTE 424M. This paper proposes an increase to 11.88 Gbits/sec, using traditional serial digital interface (SDI) techniques to transport four times the data. Detailed descriptions of the multiplex are included. The challenges involved, and the requirements at the physical layer to transport such high data rates are also discussed.",

Before joining Gennum, Seth-Smith worked in R & D design and engineering management at a number of organizations, including the Independent Broadcasting Authority, Scientific-Atlanta, Digital Processing Systems and Snell & Wilcox. He has been a member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) since 1982, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) since 1995. He has published a number of patents and papers and has made presentations at IBC, Montreux, and the International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE).",
