    "abstract": "A large fraction of the radiation from an arc lamp consists of infrared and ultraviolet energy. By coating the arc mirror blank with multilayer interference films instead of with silver, the major portion of the visible light can be reflected while most of the infrared and near ultraviolet radiation is transmitted. Hence, this type of mirror reduces film distortion caused by overheating, and because of the selective nature of the reflection, it affords a means of controlling the color quality of the illumination.",
