    "abstract": "There are so many ways of recovering silver from spent hypo that it is difficult to recommend a best scheme. This must vary with the circumstances and with the bulk of the solutions handled. The chemical reactions which are most favored employ sodium sulphide or zinc dust, precipitating the silver as sulphide or as metal. Both sodium sulphide and liver of sulphur are soluble in water and may be added by measure in solution to the hypo, whereas the solid zinc dust has to be weighed or scooped out. The latter is, therefore, not so suitable for a continuous process.",
