    "abstract": "The history of the Society in respect to its standardizing activities is traced from the date of organization, July, 1916, to October 5, 1932. One of the principal reasons for the formation of the Society was “the standardization of mechanisms and practices” employed in the motion picture art, the constant application of which principle has resulted in a large group of standards formulated by the Society for the motion picture industry during the sixteen years of its existence. The standards so formulated have become recognized internationally, and undoubtedly have contributed enormously to the rapid advancement of the art.",
