    "abstract": "Since the invention of the motion picture, there have been many improvements in the art, but possibly the most radical innovation was the introduction about 20 years ago of films and apparatus especially designed for use by the amateur photographer. These substandard films not only made amateur cinematography possible, but they have made a substantial contribution to the professional side of the motion picture art. The success of this introduction was due primarily to our member who is tonight presented for the Progress Award and Medal.",
