It is now being proposed for adoption as an American Standard in order to solve the registration problems that exist in the printing of certain types of color release prints. It is possible to meet the problems of exact registration needed for color prints by the use of cine negative perforations in the release prints. However, many people are reluctant to do this because they fear that they cannot in this way make release prints which will have satisfactory projection lives. One answer to this problem is the use of combination positive and negative perforations proposed herewith. While the problem of preparing satisfactory color release prints is the reason for the presentation of this proposal, the whole question of 35-mm standards is involved. This problem is an old one and dates back to 1916.
