    "abstract": "A camera system for use on a lunar orbiter is described. To provide information concerning the topography of the lunar surface the camera system provides stereoscopic pairs of images. Methods of achieving stereoscopy at the desired resolution are discussed. The relation between orbital parameters and the extent of lunar surface surveyed is considered in relation to available sensor resolution. The optical system requirements are described in terms of aperture and focal length necessary to perform the mission under the conditions of illumination, lunar albedo, resolution and signal-to-noise ratio.",
