The long experience of the motion-picture industry enables it to produce prints which are wholly acceptable to cinema audiences from the viewpoints of contrast, detail and colour fidelity but broadcasting organisations are finding that their requirements are not identical with those of the cinema theatre. Technical characteristics which are desirable for the cinema do not necessarily suffice for colour television.
