    "abstract": "The spectral energy distributions are given of Sunlight, National motion picture studio carbons, Sun Arcs, and Rotary Spot carbons under the conditions found in the studios. From the spectral energy distributions, the amounts of actual energy received by an actor from one of these light-sources at various distances, and the numbers of carbon arc lighting units required to equal the intensity of sunlight have been calculated. A chart is included which shows the relative amounts of photographically effective, penetrating infrared and long-wave infrared radiations emitted by the various arc units.",
