    "abstract": "Continual efforts are being made to improve the technical quality of color television pictures obtained from 16mm film. A very promising approach is to scan a color negative in the telecine instead of the usual positive print or reversal stock. This results in improved gradation, color fidelity, steadiness and resolution. There are problems of adequate film cleanliness and visibility of splices but these are receiving attention and the technique is in regular use by the BBC.",
