    "abstract": "The introduction of automation into television station operations offers advantages in staff utilization and data handling that have become more apparent as equipment has become more sophisticated. To take maximum advantage requires that station design and operation be adapted to the requirements of automation. The problems that arise in an average existing station where this ideal situation does not exist are outlined, together with an estimate of the probable future development of automation systems.",
