    "abstract": "All the activities of the Society have the basic aim of advancing the engineering and technical aspects of the motion-picture and professional television arts and sciences. The function of the Progress Committee is to prepare the annual report of these advances. This report is international in scope, which is not only an expression of the Society's representation in international organizations but of our own ever-increasing international membership. Of our 25 sections, five are outside the North American continent and, of these five, three were formed only this year, these being the German Section, Soviet Union Section, and the Nordic Section.",
