We have discussed many facets of the subject but have spent little time discussing how this technology might provide consumers with better pictures. In the studio, digital TV pictures will remain perfect until they are converted to NTSC or PAL for transmission, but after that all the usual aberrations will start to creep in. So how do we give our customers what they want — better quality, and more of it? Last month's article on compression described how we can offer more channels in the limited bandwidth.
