He graduated from the Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Waseda University, Tokyo, in 1967, and joined NHK the same year. He worked at the regional NHK broadcasting station until 1971, when he transferred to the Science and Technical Research Labs as a researcher, and contributed to the development of high-density digital magnetic recording. Ohsima is a member of the IEEE and a member of the Institute of Electronics Information and Communication Engineers of Japan and the Institute of Television Engineers of Japan.",
