    "abstract": "This paper presents a preliminary study aiming to define a nonlinear model of a high-density optical disk readout process based on the Volterra series. Because of the high linear density and reduced track pitch, the signal readout is not a linear process. To cope with such a delicate problem, the identification of a suitable nonlinear model is required. In accordance with the Hopkins analysis, a physical model based on the optical scalar theory was implemented. The result of this analysis was then used to build a nonlinear analytical model based on the Volterra series. Some encouraging results from the preliminary draft model are presented here.",
