Other techniques, such as sliding scale quantization, luminance bounding of the chrominance, line-sequential chrominance, and video transmission during the normal blanking interval can be applied to either approach to help reduce the transmission rate to the DS3C (approximately 90-Mbit/sec) or even to the DS3 (approximately 45-Mbit/sec) level of the North American digital hierarchy.
