    "abstract": "The construction and theory of operation are described of the electron-image tube, which consists of a photosensitive cathode, a fluorescent screen, and an electron optical system which focuses the electron “image” from the cathode upon the viewing screen. Due to the wide spectral response of the cathode, the tube can be used to convert infrared, visible, or ultraviolet images into visible images upon the fluorescent screen. The electron optical system is discussed and its analogy to the conventional optical system is shown. To reproduce an image faithfully the electron “lens” system must be corrected for various aberrations. Methods of making these corrections are indicated, and applications of the device are described.",
